Type: Residential

Status: In Progress

This one-bedroom apartment in Dubai was designed for a couple seeking something quieter than the city around them. A home that does not perform. One that simply is.

The design draws from the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, the beauty found in imperfection, in the passage of time, in materials that carry the mark of their origin. Set against the precision of a modern apartment, that sensibility creates a tension that is the whole point. Neither purely minimal nor purely raw, the interior sits somewhere between the two, comfortable in its own incompleteness.

Natural materials ground the space. Wood and stone appear in their most honest forms, chosen for their texture and their quiet presence rather than their finish. A muted, neutral palette runs throughout, keeping the atmosphere calm and allowing the materials to speak without competition. Soft furnishings add layers of comfort that feel organic rather than arranged.

The apartment is open plan, the living, dining, and sleeping areas flowing into one another without hard divisions. In a smaller space, this openness is everything. It allows light to move freely, makes the apartment feel larger than its footprint, and creates the sense of a home that breathes.

The result is an interior that asks very little of its inhabitants and gives them a great deal in return. A rare thing in Dubai, a home designed for stillness.
