Plot ELV01 is located on Island 2, a reclaimed island of 58 hectares along the Dubai coastline, southeast of the World Islands and northeast of the Palm Islands, facing the Jumeirah area 5 km from the central district of Dubai. The residential project is to be part of a mixed-use development comprising over 200 keys of private residences and townhouses, the 120-key Bvlgari Hotel, a yacht club, as well as various retail and food and beverage outlets.

With a total built-up area of approximately 2,500 square meters, our proposed intervention is essentially defined as a perimeter inscribing itself within the morphological limits of the site. An 8-meter-deep slab is introduced, consequently establishing the utmost exposure possible to the periphery on all orientations, as well as on a maximum surface within this envelope, while adhering to the severe setback and zoning regulations set forth for the development. The result is two levels of double-exposed shallow floor plates encircling a lush central courtyard, not only ensuring maximum natural daylight, but also allowing for the possibility to access the residence directly from this spacious central garden.

The ground floor houses the generous reception and dining area within the beach-facing arm of the abstract object, whereas the other two arms comprise the main entrance, kitchen, a guest room and office. The upper floor accommodates the 36-meter-long master suite directly overlooking the beach, as well as four other bedrooms and a family room, all of which have double exposure through the exterior perimeter as well as toward the central courtyard. The basement houses a gym daylit through skylights in the courtyard above, as well as a home theater, entertainment room, parking and staff quarters lit and accessible through their private exterior sunken courtyard.

With the upper floor wrapped in a stone skin while the ground floor is entirely glazed on all orientations, the project materializes as a colossal abstract white rock floating along the beachfront. Overhanging the ground floor by 1.4 meters in depth along the entire perimeter, the edge of the boulder shades the completely exposed ground floor; whereas the spaces it envelops are daylit through a pixellation of openings set within a geometrical grid.

The residence also benefits from a rooftop terrace with exceptional view on all orientations and along the beachfront lays a 5.7-by-50-meter white marble plate accommodating a luxurious outdoor swimming pool area.
